Hello Mr. Lazy,

After a very fun Cowtown vacation, I am back to reality. I picked a lousy time to return: it is too hot, and the libraries are shut (and I have six holds to pick up!).

I do appreciate the book recommendations though! I have put holds on almost all of them (except Billy Bob’s book – he is a weirdo). Keep them coming!

As you know, I saw my fifth movie last week with you: Jeff, Who Lives at Home. As you said, it was OK, but could have been funnier. The post-Oscar movies are not too interesting-looking, unfortunately.

Another piece of bad news is that the One Book, One Toronto pick is a weird one. I am not too much of a fan of reading about the symptoms of a strange illness, and photographs of surgeries, and organs and things. So I am giving it up!

Instead I’ve decided to read this literary challenge:

Maybe Sophie Kinsella will improve these post-vacation doldrums!

Keep truckin’,

Hello Mr. Lazy,

That show that looks like Eco-Challenge looks good!

I forgot to tell you that I saw my third movie of the year last weekend: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. It was about a kid whose dad died in 9/11, and it was very well-made. It was not schmaltzy or sentimental. I would recommend it, though it doesn’t appear that everyone agrees (it only gets 45% on Rotten Tomatoes).

You know what movie gets 97% on Rotten Tomatoes? The Artist That remains my Oscar pick for best picture, and I really want the French dude to win best actor. You need to see it already!

This is what I’m working on now:

Hello Mr. Lazy,

I’ve finished my second book of the year: The Obamas by Jodi Kantor.

It was interesting. I learned that Michelle Obama has very high standards, and Barack Obama is actually very introverted (some of his staffers call him Barawkward behind his back). They are both looking forward to their post-presidential years.

I am now need of book recommendations, and since you are a public librarian, I am expecting a thoughtful list from you (sooner rather than later please).

Also recently, I saw my second in-theatre movie of the year: My Week With Marilyn. It was pretty good – Michelle Williams made quite an excellent Marilyn, but the story was nothing too interesting.

Finally, I am contemplating my next knitting/crafting project. I think I will go to Romni Wools tomorrow.

Have a pleasant evening, Mr. Lazy!

God bless,

Miss Giggles

Hello Mr. Lazy,

I saw my first film of 2012 tonight, and it was EXCELLENT.

The Artist is about a silent film star, and how his world is shaken by the introduction of the talkies. It is about how he copes (and doesn’t cope) with the change to his medium. A beautiful woman and a little dog help him along the way. I loved everything about this movie (and I hate dogs!).

You MUST see it.

TTYS!

Miss Giggles
